About the event

This session will work through a checklist to help you find a range of research metrics at the author and publication level that will be helpful for demonstrating your research impact in funding applications, academic promotions, or for planning and benchmarking.

Who should attend

  • Researchers applying for promotion (see the Preparation Checklist on the Academic Promotions website)
  • Researchers applying for funding opportunities or awards (e.g., ARC/ NHMRC grants)
  • HDR students and professional research support staff interested in understanding research metrics

Objectives

  • Raise awareness of responsible use of research metrics Learn how to find metrics about an author like the h-index, publication and citation counts, Field Weighted Citation Impact, and collaboration metrics
  • Discuss options for demonstrating the impact of a publication by looking at citing articles, citation percentiles, altmetrics, and policy impacts
  • Discuss options for benchmarking, and discipline differences in research metrics
