About the event

This session will help you to develop your advanced searching skills to support your research. You will learn to select databases and other information sources for your search needs, to work with advanced search functions and search management techniques and adapt these for your own purposes.  You will also learn how to search comprehensively to situate your project in the existing literature, and how to locate hard-to-find material.

Some of the key skills we will cover: 

  • How to frame your information need as a search strategy.

  • How to identify suitable search terms.

  • How to select databases and other information sources.

  • How to apply powerful search functions.

  • How to manage your search results and stay current with the literature.

  • How to find theses.

  • How to keep track of your search processes.

The workshop will be useful for all HDR students from any discipline area. 

This is an online session. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email with a calendar event attached. This will contain the Zoom link and access information you need.
