About the event

Join us for a comprehensive session designed to help you develop an effective publication strategy. You'll learn how to select publishers and journals that align with your goals and priorities, understand the individual and societal benefits of publishing research openly, and explore various routes for open access publishing. Additionally, you'll discover how to use different tools to find and evaluate relevant journals, including understanding journal metrics and rankings, and identifying 'red flags' in the scholarly publishing landscape. 

This session will be recorded, and all registered attendees will receive the recording.

Key skills you'll gain include: 

  • identifying your publishing goals and priorities 

  • recognising the differences between green, gold, hybrid and diamond models of open access 

  • using various strategies and tools to shortlist relevant journals 

  • understanding and accessing journal metrics and ranking sources 

  • spotting 'red flags' to avoid when choosing a journal, conference or other publishing opportunity.
