Deakin GenAI Hub – User Experience Design and AI: What Remains True? What Must Change?

Event details

  • Deakin students and staff

About the event

This session explores which User Experience Design fundamentals remain essential in AI implementation, and which practices must adapt to keep our focus on user intent, make uncertainty visible, and meet evolving expectations of how students and staff engage with technology.

Drawing on practical examples from emerging AI experiences, this session offers a strategic perspective on designing AI-enabled user experiences that augment human capability while preserving human agency.

Key themes:

  • What remains true: Why understanding user intent and addressing real problems matters more than ever.

  • What must change: How we must adapt our practices to meet evolving student and staff expectations – from transparency, trust, and control to new interaction models that reflect how people expect to engage with technology.
